ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATRE

Course Descriptions

 

Leigh High School's Advanced Musical Theatre class is a hands-on course which teaches young performers how to use song and dance to convey a story. Performers will continue to build their foundational skills of reading music, expanding their vocal ranges, using tone inflection and body language to convey the meaning of a song, as well as how those skills can be used to create choreography to enhance the experience for potential audiences.
 

Advanced Musical Theater (MT2-3)
 

To refine the approach to character analysis, vocal discipline, and the development of movement/storytelling through dance and polish vocabulary​. Learn to direct and coach other actors in smaller group settings. Research to find the meaning behind pieces and help tell the intended story.

Advanced Musical Theater (MT4H)
 

The same objectives as Musical Theater 2 and 3 as well as, Research and educate classmates on topics in musical theater history, style, playwrights/choreographers/songwriters, etc. Produce a showcase production of at least 15 minutes in length. (Capstone Project). Develop a repertoire of monologues, resume and headshot for auditions.
