Leigh High School’s Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department of Leigh High School provides a wide variety of performing arts educational experiences for Leigh’s students.  Students have opportunities to perform in instrumental and vocal music ensembles, marching ensembles, plays, musicals, and to learn about technical theater.   Many performing arts ensembles and individual performing arts students from Leigh win awards in local and state-wide competitions.

Please explore this website to learn more about the different performing arts opportunities available at Leigh High School and to stay up-to-date with what is happening with each ensemble. Come watch an ensemble perform or participate in fundraising activities that support these wonderful educational experiences.

There are so many ways you can explore volunteering for the Performing Arts Department. The first thing you can do is join PAPA (Performing Arts Parents Association) PAPA is a completely volunteer run organization, supporting all of the performing arts students, teachers, staff and organizations at Leigh High School. We provide a framework for parent and community support, both financially and operationally, for the Performing Arts at Leigh High School. Financial support is provided by a combination of general fundraisers, program specific fundraisers, and parent and community donations. Operational support is provided under the direction of Leigh staff in a manner designed to uphold the educational goals of the teachers and school. Through a succession of graduating classes, faculty, and directors, PAPA has provided consistent, accountable, and enthusiastic support for all of Leigh’s performing art students and the staff who support their dreams.

The second way that you can assist the Theater department is join ACTS (Adult Champions for Theater Students).

  • Without ACTS, we could not afford to hire any professionals as coaches to guide student leaders, creators, and designers.

  • Without ACTS, we could not have ANY plays, as we would not have lobby staff to handle money (as students must have an adult supervisor at all times)

  • Without ACTS, we would have an unsafe department, without backstage supervision during shows, adult supervision during large scale tech build days, and adults as cool heads in an emergency.

  • Without ACTS, we would have no field trips (Thespian Convention or to Professional Theater), as we would have no chaperones to take care of student groups.

  • Without ACTS, we would not have the amazing technology you see in this theater.

  • Without ACTS, we would not have the award winning, life changing department that we have today.

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING ONE OR BOTH OF THESE PARENT RUN ORGANIZATIONS. HELP US CONTINUE TO MAKE THESE STUDENTS PERFORMING ARTS DREAMS COME TRUE! REMEMBER, IT TAKES A VILLAGE!
