LEIGH HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE ARTS

Upcoming Tech Applications
How does the Tech application process work?
Most shows need some form of tech, and priority is generally given to the Tech Theatre students - however, there are many opportunities that can use any student interested!
When shows are looking for designers or run crew there's an interest form that goes out to students.
-
Designers are interviewed for their respective roles and with the help of the other tech coaches, determined if they are suitable for the role.
-
Students interested in "Run Crew" fill out the application and then have a brief overview of their jobs and short interview before they join the production.
How does Teching a show work?
Designers - Students who take on lead or assistant positions in areas such as: Tech Directing, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Sound Design or Programming, House Management, Scenic Painting, etc. These positions do mainly background research and production before the show enters final rehearsals and shows.
Run Crew - Students who would like to participate in productions, but enjoy the faster pace of working the shows during their final rehearsals and performances. Jobs include deck crew, lighting playback, audio playback, quick change assistants, etc.
Ushering - Students who are only able to help one or two shows but would still like to help with the show in a non-performance way can sign up in the Theatre Classroom to volunteer for ushering. Ushers help patrons find their seats and answer simple questions about the production.
